Angelique Galindo
Credentials:
Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology - University of Waterloo
Certified Personal Trainer and CPR and AED certified
My name is Angelique and I am a (BSc) Honours Kinesiology Graduate from the University of Waterloo! Becoming a Certified Personal Trainer allows me to dedicate my time to helping people become their strongest, healthiest, and most confident versions of themselves - both physically and mentally. For me, its not just about the workouts I program, but how I can transform lives, one goal at a time.
With prior experience working as an Exercise Assistant at a Centre for Community, Clinical, and Applied Research Excellence, I was able to practice and apply my knowledge to help restore a physically active lifestyle into clients being treated for or recovered from cancer. In addition, I was also able to work one-on-one with clients living with stroke; implementing a structured exercise program that helps restore overall health, wellness, energy and functioning. In these positions, I worked alongside Certified Exercise Physiologists who have given me a safe space to apply my knowledge and grow as a leader and teacher within this field.
Complimenting my work at the Centre, I have also dedicated my time to being a Workout Buddy. In this position, I was able to work one-on-one with fellow students at the university who were looking to implement physical activity into their lifestyle. Because this program was not structured - meaning no formal programming, this position challenged me to look at other forms of physical activity other than conventional strength training. By seeking varying forms of physical activity, I was able to help students break down barriers or limitations in participation, support them through their reservations, and promote the fun in exercise!
My programming approaches client goal(s) through a holistic perspective - the balance between mind, body, and environment. Together, we can work as a team to find value in exercise and physical activity, all while supporting sustainable health outcomes and promoting fun!
